Life Lessons from the Quantum World
‘Quantum’ has been the buzzword in the recent decades, right from serious scientific researchers to people trying to display intellectualism for mere optics, to those who find the word fancy, but don’t worry about what it actually means. But quit apart from the sophistication, quite beyond the noise around the word, can the quantum world offer practical lessons for our daily lives?
Quantum science is a study of our physical world at the smallest possible scales, going deep within subatomic entities even. It is basically, a study of the tiniest entities that make up everything in this universe, including you and me. In that sense, everything is quantum. Therefore, everything at its core carries a message for us.
The Hurdles
Before we explore how the quantum interpretation of our world offers beautiful, deep lessons, we must navigate two important hurdles.

This is a Universe of Possibilities
That’s right. Nothing is impossible in this universe, and that is the first lesson from the quantum world.
According to some interpretations, past, present and future could exist at the same time. Time could run slower or faster for me and for you, depending upon where we are and how we are moving. An entity could be here, there and everywhere at the same time. Energy can transform into particles and particles can change into energy.
Quantum entanglement suggests that two entities can be connected in a way that there is an apparent instant exchange of information between them, even though the two could be separated by astronomical distances.
All of this, in fact is happening right here, in the world you are living in. With the right conditions in place, anything can happen. With the right mindset and right efforts, there is nothing that you cannot achieve. You can not only move mountains; you can also align yourself with limitless possibilities.
Adaptability is Progress
That brings us to the second lesson from the quantum world. Whenever there is an adaptation in the universe, something wonderful happens.
Spacetime curves and bends to adjust objects like planets and stars and you too! This adaptation is the reason for gravity to exist.
Random clouds of hydrogen gas clumped together at the beginning of this Universe, adjusted to the increasing proximity of atoms, and that led to the formation of stars, and later, our Sun, because of which you and I exist on this planet.
According to the string theory, unimaginably small-sized vibrating strings take different forms to create different particles, and possibly many more dimensions than those we can perceive.
There is nothing static in the Universe. Everything from the living to the non-living is continuously changing and adapting.
Learning and responsible adaptation leads to growth and progress. Stagnation is the very antithesis of growth.
Pay attention to the fundamentals
The third lesson from the quantum domain might seem ordinary, precisely because it addresses the most fundamental aspects.
When it comes to your daily life, whether you are learning a new skill, or you are trying to motivate a team towards a certain goal, or you are engaged in any creative process, you cannot afford to lose sight of where everything begins – at the bottom of the pyramid, the little building blocks that create the final outcome.
In the quantum world, the most fundamental particle/field known as yet, the Higgs Boson, popularly called the God particle, is the basic entity that gives mass to all particles. If there was no Higgs field, matter would not have been formed because subatomic particles would not have been able to come together to form atoms. Further, if this Higgs field was even slightly different from the way it is, an entirely different kind of universe would have been created.
Think of it, the fundamental elements, the building blocks of any project in your life, decide what the outcome is going to be. There is no leap to success. Anything meaningful starts at the base, even the change in your attitude.
